The Prayers Of The Righteous

03 Dec 2010

Sometimes we think that the prayers of the “righteous” should be answered to fulfill all of our own selfish desires, or to keep us from experiencing deep hurt, or to avenge our own discomfort and/or embarrassment when we or someone we love dearly fails to keep promises.    But in all honesty, our prayers should be that God’s Will be done, and that when there is a problem to be solved, it should be for the best to be accomplished for the Christian soul(s) being prayed for, and then that would be an  honest heartfelt prayer of a “righteous” person.

If we could learn to walk the path of righteousness for His “Name’s Sake”, I believe that our problems, even though they are sometimes grievous enough to make our world seem to fall apart, would surely find the “peace that surpasses all understanding”, not only for ourselves, but for those that we pray for when we petition our Lord.

 Psa 23
The Lord is my Shepherd.  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.  He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou
artwith me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.  Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
